The Teal Pumpkin Project was started as an effort to bring awareness to kids with food allergies. By placing a teal pumpkin on your porch you are letting everyone know that instead of passing out candy, your house is passing out non-food goodies! This will be our first year participating in the Teal Pumpkin Project. Our house is not affected by food allergies, however, I am all about passing out a treat this is not loaded with sugar.
Instead of painting a pumpkin teal, I decided to make teal pumpkin planters. It was super simple, quick, and added a pop of color to our front porch.
The first step was to paint the plastic pumpkin buckets. I purchased mine at Walmart for $1 each, but this time of year you can find them just about anywhere. First I spray painted them a solid teal and once that was dry, I added a second coat of teal glitter.

Since they were being used a planters, I drilled holes into the bottom of the buckets so the water could drain. After the holes were drilled, I added the flowers, and put them on display!
